Abstract:

The dissertation analyses diachronically the socio-cultural development from the point of view of resource use in north-western Banat, an area with abundant food resources but lacking mineral resources. The time frame covers the Neolithic and Eneolithic periods, which together span more than three millennia. It is concluded that socio-cultural transformations are usually accompanied by changes in resource use, and that studying the latter contributes to a better understanding of the former.
