Abstract:
Teaching of academic art history changed profoundly, when the science decided on slide projection as its preferential medium of education at the end of the 19th century. Since then, photographic images of works of art characterize the visual perception of art and furthermore imprint a particular point of view onto the discipline. Along with that, the perception of the mediality of art changed. I will sound out in detail this influence of slide projection with its images organized according to central perspective on the change of perception of mediality.
